Rusty’s Story

This is just one of many stories about Rusty...
Sometimes we come to the “end of our rope” and even the knot, once tied in the end, has slipped away. We find ourselves completely spent as everything around us seems to fall apart.
Our youngest grandson, Rusty, is a "Special Olympian".
Recently during a family crisis (which come to all families at some time, for various reasons) our daughter found herself in this kind of situation: physically, emotionally and spiritually drained.
Not knowing what to do, our 18 year old did three things:
1. First he went to his room – a familiar place of comfort.
2. Next he turned on the tape of a musical he had just learned at church.
3. He wept.
Surrounded by the unseen Presence of God, Rusty was gently and lovingly given peace to his saddened soul until calm had been restored and he knew his mom was all right. He gave his mother space to recover from her grief.
- Recently, Rusty had a swimming accident. He had to be airlifted to the hospital. During his stay and due to the medical equipment, Rusty used the sign language he had learned as a child to communicate his needs to the medical personnel. We are very happy to report that Rusty is fine.
